I’m Eleanor Tucker, a thirty-something writer and mother. I’m a sucker for beauty products, and I also like a bit of chat, especially when it involves moaning about my chaotic offspring and husband. So, my blog is a bit of chat and a bit of product testing. Probably more chat than testing, but you’d get bored otherwise.
A few people have asked me how I have the cash to buy new products every week. (OK, one person asked me. OK, it was my mum). I shall answer the question with another question: have you SEEN my clothes? If you haven’t, suffice to say that there’s not a lot new going on there. More seriously, Mum, I beg, blag, borrow and buy. And even if I do get sent the occasional freebie, I’m always completely impartial. Otherwise, what’s the point?
Anyway, have a look, enjoy, go and spend some money and just feel more lovely. It’s that superficial.

Hooray. Some beauty advice that has a bit of humour about it! Soon to be going on maternity leave, the thought of not being able to visit Space NK guilt-free terrifies me. Surely the damage to my skin caused by sleepless nights is when I most need to reach for my super douper kiehl, creme de khor for slathering on my worse for wear body. But am I going to have time? Let’s hope so. At least I’ll have this blog to keep me up-to-date on all the best beauty stuff. I may not be able to afford my usual treats, so please keep us informed on all the cheaper varieties.
Brilliant. Finding this blog on this very day has cheered me up no end. It was my birthday last week, I was 28. It didn’t faze me until last night – I looked old. My main mission for today was to ask everyone I see what I need to do to make my skin look and feel ‘early twenties’. I ran into John Lewis to collect some samples and I felt like I was having the same conversation with the same vacant woman over and over again. Not overly helpful.
Enter Product Placement – it’s brilliant! Honest recommendations, great chat and down to earth advice in one place – i love it. I’ve now bookmarked this page and I’m looking forward to seeing what should be next on my beauty shopping list!
Brilliant – I’m always searching for relevant beauty product reviews/best buys before I part with my hard earned spondoolies – in fact only the other day I decided to try a new toner and couldn’t find the Marie Claire supp I filed away a few months ago, so this site will hopefully become the one-stop-shop for all my beauty must-haves! Thank you

It’s refreshing to hear someone who has the same beauty issues as me give some good honest advice. I am delighted to have stumbled upon this blog to guide me through the maze of products.
It’s also great that the advice is seasonal – I was just contemplating my poor old winter feet the other day, so I was pleased to have some top tips on how to get my trotters ready for possible exposure.
Great blog – my new one stop shop for beauty advice.
You’re in luck – next week’s blog is all about cheap miracle workers for us curly-tops. And I might even do a Just-had-a-baby-and-look-like-a-dog’s-dinner special, although I’m sure you won’t need it. Sadly, I fear I still do…
Frankly at 28 you have little to worry about but it’s always good to do some damage limitation. Planning an anti-ageing post that doesn’t include the words “only £175″ so stay tuned. And happy birthday for last week, you youthful visitor you.
Toners eh? I feel a new post idea coming on. To a product queen like myself they’re actually an excitingly contentious subject. I myself am ‘pro’, although many are anti. It’s pretty much of equal importance to the global financial crisis, don’t you know?
Always happy to be described as a one stop shop, Agatha. Thank you. More seasonal advice coming up so put me on your favourites and prepare for spring with PP…
Hooray! In the last 10 years I’ve gone from an attempt to interview me as a ‘recent school leaver’ (which I wasn’t), to fishing for a compliment from the bloke at the gym by saying, ‘I’ve had 3 kids in the last 4 years and I’m starting to look it’, and him, very disappointingly, replying, ‘Yes’.
While I’m happy to accept that things have changed, I’m working on the premise that if people are dazzled by my glowing skin and similar, they might not look too closely at the rest of me. Sadly the children, those little plumbers, drain my purse at quite a rate, so knowing I’m not buying magic beans on one of my rare trips to Jenners is always good. Keep up the good work lady!
Great job on your blog – very witty and entertaining, and good tips too! I’m especially pleased to hear that John Lewis stock my favourite Burts Bees as I’ve never seen it in the UK. Will forward a link to your blog to all my friends – us 40-somethings need all the help we can get!!
I love a beauty tip. Me.
Hi, what a great site, will recommend to all my friends. Especially looking forward to your just-had-baby-and-look-like-dog’s-dinner special. I am very much in need of some advice too
x
And I love a recipe. Especially if it contains pine nuts. I shall add a link to your tasty site forthwith. Going to be doing a men’s product feature or two with an exciting guest editor so don’t give up on me yet.
Thanks Emma – I may bring my new mum special forward just for you.
Brilliant blog…I am well impressed! Being a creature of habit I personally stick to Cliniques 3 step skin care, which as you can see, obviously agrees since i am so beautiful…..NOT! I love the whole beauty pampering thing that you’ve got going on though so I will definately be visiting weekly to find out your latest tips and advice, and of course just to hear your hilarious chat. I will also forward a link to all my friends and that will give you another 2 visitors
hee hee x
Seriously, where’s the sports section? There was a cup final this weekend you know.
I’ll get right on it.
What sport was that again, badminton?
Like it, like it a lot. Might even be able to tempt me away from Nivea Visage and facial wipes as a beauty regime. Keep it up. x
I love your site. Keep it up !
Hey,
Awesome awesome blog. Thanks so much for messaging me – it’s such a delightful read! And yes you are on my blogroll now!

FacePanda.com
I’m honoured. FacePanda is genius and now pride of place on my bloglist. Keep up the good work. And you never know, Christina Aguilera might just have a read and change her ways…
I’m with ya Carol on Space NK. I once bought the most embarrassingly useless product evah because I was so intimidated (and drunk it has to be said after a boozy lunch) by a scary Queeny person at Space NK. It was a lip plumper and it stung my mouth something horrible – like having a dozen angry bees let loose on my gob. And it cost (I’m going red with shame now) nearly £30!!!!!!!!
They sell that Frederick Fuckoff hair stuff there – cider vinegar shampoo at nearly £25!!! My mum used to add a splash of vinegar to the final rinse when she washed my hair as a child and this guy is selling shampoo with tiddly amounts that you have to take a mortgage out for!
Having said THAT – they do offer some good advice and you can have a dabble with the products. But don’t go in if you’re feeling the slightest bit insecure – you’ll spend a fortune.
Before I buy any product now I come straight here to find out what real birds think of it – or I check it out on Makeupalley.
You’ve got me really into MakeUpAlley. The site is genius. I am already wondering what I did before…
Bring on your just-had-baby-and-look-like-dog’s-dinner special – can’t wait (to read it, not so much looking forward to living it) x
You are late to the party Niki. Here it is: http://www.productplacementtheblog.com/?p=29
Enjoy.
